This section explains the Kent County Council pay structure.
A new pay structure and approach to pay progression came into effect from 1st April 2025. Transition arrangements for moving to the new structure are in place, which include temporary transition points for 2025/26 only and changes to the lengths of the grades between 2025-2027. If you see roles advertised at the previous Kent Range number based system, schools are not required to immediately adopt the new Kent Scheme Though this has come into effect from 1st April 2025, some schools’ Pay Policies are not reviewed until September and the pay will be adopted then.
KSA (the first of the pay grades) has been raised in order to exceed both the rising National Living Wage and the increase in the Foundation (real) Living Wage.

If you are placed on a temporary transition point in the new pay structure, you will stay on that salary for the 2025/26 year only. On 1st April 2026 (or 1st September 2026 if you’re on the September pay cycle), you will move to the next fixed point in the structure.
