Early Career Teacher Programme - Supporting New Teachers Across Kent

Kent ECT Induction and Support

The Teacher Development Team is proud to support schools across Kent in delivering the Early Career Teacher Programme (ECTP) in partnership with Thames Gateway Teaching School Hub and the Education Development Trust.

What is the ECTP?
The ECTP is a two-year, government-funded programme designed to support and train Early Career Teachers (ECTs) following their Initial Teacher Training. It provides structured training, one-to-one mentoring, and evidence-based support to help new teachers thrive in their first two years.
Programme Highlights

  • Two-Year Programme Ongoing development and support throughout the first two years of teaching.
  • Structured Curriculum Based on the DfE’s Early Career Framework - what every new teacher needs to know and do.
  • One-to-One Mentoring Each ECT is paired with an in-school mentor for personalised guidance.
  • Evidence-Based Development Focused on research-backed practices in behaviour management, pedagogy, and assessment.
  • Local Partnership Delivered jointly by the Teacher Development Team and the Thames Gateway TSH.
  • Fully Funded No cost to schools or teachers - funded by the Department for Education.
