Maidstone & Malling Alternative Provision (MMAP) is seeking a highly skilled, motivated, and professional School Business Manager to join our dedicated team.

This is a key leadership role, working closely with the Headteacher to ensure the smooth financial, operational, and administrative running of the school. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in supporting the delivery of high-quality education by managing the school’s finance, HR, payroll, administration, premises, and support services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead on school financial management, including budgets, forecasting, reporting, and compliance.

  • Oversee payroll and HR processes, ensuring accurate and timely administration.

  • Manage contracts, procurement, and support services.

  • Work collaboratively with the Site Manager to ensure compliance with all health, safety, and premises requirements.

  • Oversee administration and office operations, ensuring efficient systems are in place.

  • Act as a key point of contact for external agencies, auditors, and suppliers.

About You

We are looking for an individual with:

  • Proven experience in financial management and business operations.

  • Strong leadership, organisation, and communication skills.

  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • High levels of integrity, accuracy, and attention to detail.

  • Knowledge of school finance, HR, and compliance (desirable but training can be provided).

Information about the school

The Maidstone and Malling Alternative Provision (MMAP) is located approximately 1 mile from the centre of Maidstone and is the hub of the Maidstone and Malling Inclusion Service.

The Provision supports young people with social, emotional and behavioural difficulties from KS3 to KS4. These students may be at risk of permanent exclusion from their mainstream setting and the Provision offers outreach, transition and respite support for KS3 students. The placements in KS4 are usually longer term to enable students to complete their qualifications.

Maidstone and Malling Alternative Provision is committed to the education and social development of all its students and our broad curriculum provides the opportunities for our students to be successful academically and vocationally.

Our Ofsted inspection in March 2025 was rated Good and we are continuing to develop the quality of learning and our holistic strategies.
