We are passionate about education and our ethos and vision embody child-led learning. We ensure that deep learning happens through play, investigation and exploration. Adults are model learners and challenge themselves to continually develop their own practice and provision through self-reflection, research, collaboration and innovation. Both adults and pupils are conscientious and considered risk takers. Adults and pupils build extremely positive relationships and this scaffolds learning further. The curriculum is rich and nurtures children’s self-esteem and interests, both academic and creative. As a result, children and adults are confident, resilient, content, independent, inspired, self-motivated, life-long learners.
The Oaks Infant School can be found on the southern outskirts of Sittingbourne, Kent. We are a three-form entry school with 9 classes for 270 children in years R, 1 and 2 plus a wonderful Nursery. Attached to the school is The Acorn Centre, a specially resourced provision who cater for children with an Education and Health Care Plan (EHCP) for Speech and Language needs. We have up to 12 children in this specialist unit who integrate into the main school for learning experiences.
We are proud to be part of the Potential in Everyone Academy Trust which enables us to work in partnership with our receiver school Minterne Junior School as well as the village schools of Bredgar CEP School and Borden CEP School.
During our most recent Ofsted visit (January 2016), it was noted that we had a very committed, enthusiastic and positive staff team.
We are committed to Safeguarding and all appointments and visits will be made with safeguarding procedures as our key priority. All staff will be fully inducted, including Safeguarding training and will be subject to a full DBS check and collection of references before interview.
The school is set in attractive grounds with many mature trees which attract an abundance of wildlife. We are able to use the school grounds to take learning out into the environment providing a broad and enriching experience for the children
