Are you looking for a school where the children learn to love and love to learn?

Are you looking for a warm, friendly and nurturing school at the heart of the community with high performance and motivated, engaged children?

A maternity leave vacancy has arisen within our highly successful Church of England Infant School for an ambitious teacher of either a Key Stage 1 class or Reception class (should the successful candidate be a better match to that year group). Any subject relevant specialism will be discussed at interview.

The teacher currently intends to return at the start of term in January 2022.

We encourage applications from teachers who would relish the career development opportunities provided from working as part of an outstanding team. We are particularly looking for a caring candidate who wants to make learning as interesting, fun and exciting as possible and shares in our school values of kindness, trust, sharing, respect, love and friendship.

Thurnham is a vastly oversubscribed school with a long tradition of high standards and applicants must enjoy the challenges arising from an environment of high expectations and achievement whilst enjoying working in a strong, supportive and caring team.

Job description and person specification are available to download below. Visits to the school are warmly welcomed and encouraged in line with any necessary Covid related precautions.

The staff and children look forward to meeting you!

Information about the school

We are a Good rated school, with a reputation for very high standards of achievement, pastoral care, outreach work and teaching and learning.

Our latest OFSTED inspection (February 2023) highlighted:

Pupils are joyful and safe in this nurturing school. Children make a strong start in early years, where the school's exceptional pastoral care begins. Pupils feel special and highly valued. Staff are dedicated to finding unique talents in every pupil.

The school roll is currently 271 pupils, spread over nine classes (three classes per year group).

Team work and positive working relationships are very important to us and we are very much at the heart of our community, working closely with our local Church.

Our last diocese inspection was graded Outstanding (March 2018).
