£16,049 - £16,824 pro-rata for £18,242 - £19,123 FTE (SAT Band 4)

Start date: October / November 2020

36 hours per wk - 41 working wks, paid for 47.1488 wks (term time plus 3 weeks)

Monday to Thursday 8:00am - 3:45pm including a 30 minute unpaid break and Friday 8:00am - 3:15pm including a 15 minute unpaid break.

This is an exciting opportunity to join our Science Department. Working alongside the Senior Technician, you will help ensure that a safe, effective and efficient laboratory technician service is delivered, including; the provision of technical advice and assistance in the classroom to support pupils and assist teaching staff with learning activities and day to day maintenance of teaching areas and equipment.

The Science Department is committed to delivering practical and engaging lessons that meet the needs of all students. A passion for Science and working as part of a team, with previous experience of working in a laboratory are key expectations.

The successful candidate will:

  • Have demonstrable technical competence in the use of specified laboratory equipment.
  • Be able to use ICT effectively.
  • Have the ability to multi-task and prioritise workload
  • Be friendly and efficient

A strong background in physics, or good physics knowledge preferred.

The Sittingbourne School is a large, oversubscribed school built on a strong sense of community, making us a warm and very special place to be part of.  Our staff work tirelessly to ensure the wellbeing and happiness of every child. The school was graded as “Good” for the third successive inspection.

We offer our students a very broad curriculum, placing value on the arts and vocational subjects in addition to core and Ebacc subjects.
