We are looking for an enthusiastic qualified teacher who shares our ethos about early childhood development to work within our excellent team. This post is full time for a September 2020 start.

We have a strong belief and ethos regarding early childhood development and pedagogy. We draw on the expertise of a range of educational pioneers including Reggio Emilia, Elizabeth Jarman, Anna Ephgrave and Julie Fisher. The heart of our ethos is about celebrating the uniqueness of each child and ensuring a truly creative, inspiring and child-led approach intertwinned with the high expectations set through our curriculum.

The right candidate will be able to offer:

  • a passion for child-centred learning and an enquiry based approach
  • a commitment to working within a supportive and collaborative team where we are passionate about educational philosophy and pedagogy
  • an ability to develop positive, meaningful and productive relationships with pupils and strong links with their parents

Then we can offer you:

  • a welcoming and experienced team who believe in our 'family' approach to wellbeing
  • a supportive environment to develop your skills
  • a commitment to continuing professional development, including through research and reading
  • children who are explorers and pioneers of their own learning
  • very supportive parents and governors
  • a school with a clear vision and direction.
  • a fully supportive, visible and approachable leadership team.

We have a proven track record of working with both NQTs and experienced teachers so we can offer you any development you need, you just need to share our passion and believe in our vision.

Informal visits to school are warmly welcomed so please contact the school office to arrange a time to visit.

The Oaks Infant and Nursery School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. Full safeguarding checks will be carried out prior to any commencement of post.

Information about the school

The Oaks Infant School ‘Where we are inspired’

Our Ethos: We are passionate about education and our ethos embodies child-led learning. We ensure that deep learning happens through play, investigation and exploration. Adults are model learners and challenge themselves to continually develop their own practice and provision through self-reflection, research, collaboration and innovation. Both adults and pupils are conscientious and considered risk takers. Adults and pupils build extremely positive relationships which scaffolds learning further and enables children to be self-assured individuals.

Our Vision: The curriculum is even richer and successfully nurtures every child’s self-esteem and interests, building the cultural capital they need to become successful citizens in the wider world. It enables them to explore, embed and develop expertise in a set of skills and knowledge which have been carefully designed to meet their unique needs. Children are prepared for their next stage of education and collaborative working means that this transition is seamless. As a result, children and adults are confident, resilient, content, independent, inspired, self-motivated, life-long learners

The Oaks Infant School can be found on the southern outskirts of Sittingbourne, Kent. We are a three-form entry school with 9 classes for 270 children in years R, 1 and 2 plus a wonderful Nursery. Attached to the school is The Acorn Centre, a specially resourced provision who cater for children with an Education and Health Care Plan (EHCP) for Speech and Language needs. We have up to 12 children in this specialist unit who integrate into the main school for learning experiences.

We are proud to be part of the Potential in Everyone Academy Trust which enables us to work in partnership with our receiver school Minterne Junior School as well as the village schools of Bredgar CEP School and Borden CEP School.

During our most recent Ofsted visit (January 2016), it was noted that we had a very committed, enthusiastic and positive staff team.

We are committed to Safeguarding and all appointments and visits will be made with safeguarding procedures as our key priority. All staff will be fully inducted, including Safeguarding training and will be subject to a full DBS check and collection of references before interview.

The school is set in attractive grounds with many mature trees which attract an abundance of wildlife. We are able to use the school grounds to take learning out into the environment providing a broad and enriching experience for the children.
