We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, energetic and motivated person to work as a Resident Graduate Boarding Assistant. The role will be for one year and will be split across supporting boarding and other departments within the School. The post would ideally suit a recent graduate seeking a gap year after their degree course. The post could also lead to a career in teaching or a pastoral role within an education setting.

Sir Roger Manwood's School is an 'Outstanding' boarding School for boys and girls, situated in the beautiful, historic town of Sandwich. With close links to Canterbury and within easy reach of London. We have 1000 day students, all of whom have joined the School through Kent's grammar School selection. The boarding community consists of 2 boarding houses for students aged 11 - 18, with a maximum capacity of 60 boarders.

The role is an exciting opportunity for a recent graduate to gain sound educational and work experience. The person we are looking to appoint will be dynamic, empathetic, a self-motivator and committed. The role will ensure the successful candidate will have a varied educational experience and thus provide them with a great career stepping stone for their future.

The post is a residential position and single accommodation is provided. The Resident Graduate Boarding Assistant role is a full time, term time only, salaried post and will start with effect from the 28th August 2019. The successful person will be expected to live in School during term time, as evening and week end duties will be required. Accommodation will be provided until the week after the end of the Summer Term.

The role includes:

  • Supporting the boarding house staff in caring for the boarders, including set evening duties during the week and occasional cover duties
  • Evening supervision of prep and bedtime routines
  • Accompanying boarding trips and activities in the evening and week ends
  • Main responsibilities will be within boarding, however there is the possibility of additional hours (for extra payment) across the School in interested subject areas.
