Are you passionate about enabling vulnerable children to become successful, independent and determined learners? If it energizes you to be the voice for those that can find the classroom a challenge, consider this opportunity…

Capel Primary School is looking for part-time SENCo to cover for an existing member of staff who will be on maternity from April 23rd 2019. The contract will be for a minimum of one year.

This is an opportunity for a dedicated professional to join a team of talented individuals, who thrive as a team and have recently demonstrated their passion through an Ofsted Inspection. The existing SENCo has already secured effective systems and processes to ensure a smooth transition. The position is suitable for an existing SENCo with additional time or for someone with passion for the area and wishes to explore this career path.

The role is a 0.4 Full Time Equivalent position and can be negotiated through consultation with the successful candidate. The salary will include an additional SEND point.

The post holder will have overall responsibility for learning and managing SEND across the school. Evidence of effectively working with parents, specialists, colleagues and other agencies is fundamental to the role. Being able to effectively complete and track the impact of a variety of crucial SEN forms (i.e. High Needs Funding applications and Educational Health Care Plan reviews) is also a vital. Most importantly, we are looking a SENCo who has a deep understanding of the barriers faced by SEN children and has the approachable nature to coach staff to adapt teaching so these pupils overcome them and thrive.

The school is made up of around 210 pupils and is single form entry. It has a village school feel and has around 10% of the role on the SEND register. We are a close knit community that values the learning journey. We look to embody our mentality of, ‘learning today, for tomorrow’.

Capel Primary School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. All appointments will be subject to satisfactory enhanced DBS checks and references. Visits to the school are encouraged and can be arranged via our Office, 01892 833919 or office@capel-tonbridge.kent.sch.uk

Please be aware that references will be taken up prior to short listing. We reserve the right to interview before the closing date.
