At St Ethelbert’s Catholic Primary School and Nursery, we are proud of our inclusive and nurturing environment and are excited to continue our journey towards becoming an exceptional school. We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and committed Sports Coach to join our team and help enrich the learning, wellbeing and personal development of our pupils.

The Role

The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering high-quality PE and sporting opportunities across the school from Nursery to Year 6, supporting children to develop confidence, teamwork and healthy lifestyles.

The role includes:

  • Delivering engaging PE sessions across EYFS and Primary phases
  • Leading after-school sports clubs Monday to Friday
  • Supporting sports fixtures and competitions, including occasional weekend events (paid overtime available)
  • Optional wraparound care provision until 6pm each weekday (paid overtime available)
  • The week will consist of three days PE teaching (including swimming); two days additional support in Key Stage 1 or Key Stage 2.
  • To lead PE across the school.

Working Hours

Monday to Friday
8:30am – 4:30pm
(Includes a 30-minute lunch break and 30-minute lunchtime provision)

This is initially a temporary contract, to be reviewed after one year.

  • Is willing to contribute fully to all aspects of school life
  • Supports and promotes a strong child-centred ethos

Experience of working with children is essential, along with good numeracy and literacy skills.

Salary

KSC Pay Scale (pro rata)
Full-time KSC starting salary: £26,956

This post is subject to a six-month probationary period.

St Ethelbert’s Catholic Primary School is a one form entry school set in the heart of the Georgian town of Ramsgate, Kent, just a short walk from the beaches overlooking the English Channel. The school had its last Ofsted Inspection in May 2025 and is rated Good. It had a denominational inspection in May 2023 and is rated Outstanding. Our staff and governors are hard-working, caring, supportive and friendly and the children are very well behaved.
