At Bodsham Church of England Primary School, our Christian vision of “carrying and being carried” underpins everything we do. Rooted in Luke 5:18–20, we are a school where relationships matter deeply, children are known and valued as individuals, and staff are supported to flourish professionally and personally.

Following our recent highly positive SIAMS inspection, we are seeking an enthusiastic and committed Early Years / Key Stage 1 teacher to join our welcoming and dedicated team from September 2026.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Builds warm, positive relationships with children, families and colleagues
  • Is committed to inclusion and nurturing every child to flourish academically, socially and emotionally
  • Can foster curiosity, resilience, independence and a love of learning
  • Values the importance of play, talk and first-hand experiences in learning
  • Is reflective, motivated and keen to develop professionally
  • Will contribute positively to the wider life and Christian ethos of the school

We can offer:

  • Happy, highly motivated children who enjoy learning and behave exceptionally well
  • A supportive and caring staff team who genuinely work together
  • Low levels of pupil premium and SEND need, allowing teachers to focus on high-quality teaching and enriching learning experiences
  • A nurturing Christian ethos where wellbeing and belonging are prioritised
  • Strong leadership support and opportunities for professional development
  • A beautiful village setting with strong links to the church and local community
  • A curriculum designed to broaden children’s horizons and encourage creativity, confidence and responsibility
  • A school where staff are valued, listened to and encouraged to flourish

Our SIAMS inspection recognised that:

“The Christian vision is deeply embedded and clearly lived across the school community… creating a strong sense of belonging where pupils and adults flourish.”

We warmly welcome applications from experienced teachers and those ready to take the next step in their career. Subject leadership opportunities may be available for the right candidate.

Visits to the school are warmly encouraged and can be arranged through the school office.

Information about the school

Bodsham Church of England Primary School is a small and welcoming village school set in the heart of the beautiful Kent countryside. Federated with Saltwood Church of England Primary School, we offer the warmth and close community feel of a small school alongside the professional collaboration and development opportunities of a larger federation.

With approximately 70 pupils on roll, children are taught in four classes, including a dedicated Early Years class and mixed-age classes from Year 1 to Year 6. Our small class sizes allow staff to know every child as an individual and nurture each pupil to flourish academically, socially and emotionally.

Our Christian vision and ethos are central to school life and underpin the caring, inclusive and supportive relationships across our community. We are proud of the strong partnerships we have with parents, carers and the local community. Our recent SIAMS inspection recognised that:

“The Christian vision is deeply embedded and clearly lived across the school community… creating a strong sense of belonging where pupils and adults flourish.”

Children at Bodsham benefit from a rich, varied and engaging curriculum, enhanced by our extensive grounds and regular educational visits using the school minibus to explore the local area and beyond. Pupils are enthusiastic learners who enjoy school, behave exceptionally well and are eager to participate fully in school life.

Our June 2022 Ofsted inspection recognised the school’s strengths, including Outstanding judgements in Early Years, Behaviour and Personal Development.

The number of pupils receiving free school meals and those on the SEND register are below the national average, allowing staff to focus on delivering high-quality teaching alongside meaningful enrichment opportunities.

As part of our federation, all staff benefit from:

Shared professional development and training opportunities Collaborative planning and moderation across both schools Supportive partnerships with experienced colleagues Access to wider resources and expertise Opportunities to develop leadership skills and subject specialisms
