Wingham Primary School is looking for a passionate SEN specialist HLTA or similar to join our school community. “The school is recognised locally for the positive impact it has on its most vulnerable pupils” OFSTED January 26. You will possess excellent interpersonal skills and have a passion and genuine interest for working with children with SEND, as well as being patient and resilient. The role will be challenging but also incredibly rewarding. 

The role will involve leading an alternative provision classroom supporting a small group of children who have EHCPs (Autism).

We expect commitment to the school and our pupils’ learning and wellbeing. Possessing the motivation to develop and constantly improve is necessary as we work together, as a team. Further information about the responsibilities of the role can be found in the attached job description and person specification.

Ongoing development and professional learning will be provided based upon your own development needs and the requirements of the school to ensure that pupils are being supported by skilled and knowledgeable professionals. 

The successful candidates will be educated to at least GCSE grade C/4 in English and Maths or equivalent.


We are looking for a colleague who is:

  • Experienced in working with children with autism, speech language and communication difficulties as well as sometimes distressed behaviour linked to their diagnosis or other SEM needs.
  • Passionate about supporting pupils and staff wellbeing

  • Committed to supporting pupils and their individual needs
  • Flexible and able to respond to the needs of the school and its community
  • Emotionally intelligent, effective communicators and possess strong interpersonal skills to be able to relate well to pupils.
