Nexus Foundation Special School is seeking a committed and enthusiastic Unqualified Teacher to join our experienced and welcoming Secondary team from September 2025.

We are a Kent special school based in Tonbridge, supporting pupils aged 2 to 19 with profound, severe and complex learning needs, including autism. Our aim is to ensure every child is respected, supported and empowered to achieve their full potential.

About the Role

As an Unqualified Teacher at Nexus, you will plan and deliver creative, engaging and personalised learning experiences for a class group. You will lead a team of support staff, fostering a collaborative and supportive atmosphere that enables all pupils to thrive.

You will:

  • Design and implement tailored learning programmes to meet pupils’ individual needs
  • Lead and motivate support staff within the class team
  • Work closely with families and professionals to ensure holistic support
  • Communicate effectively with parents, carers and colleagues
  • Uphold and contribute to school-wide safeguarding, behaviour and inclusion policies
  • Support and contribute to school improvement initiatives

What We’re Looking For

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Passionate about working with children and young people with SEND
  • Calm, resilient and able to adapt to change
  • A team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Committed to reflective practice and ongoing professional development

You will need:

  • A degree
  • GCSE (or equivalent) Grade 4/C or above in English and Maths
  • Experience of working with children or young people, preferably in a school or special educational setting
  • A good understanding of child development and behaviour strategies
