Information about the school

Little Pickles Nursery is a purpose-built early years setting located in the heart of the Kent countryside in Tenterden. Established in 2018 by experienced Early Years teacher Katie Holmes, our nursery welcomes children aged 3 months to 5 years and offers a warm, home-from-home environment that nurtures curiosity, independence, and a love for learning.

We are proud to offer a nature-rich curriculum, with spacious indoor areas and a well-resourced garden tailored to each age group. Our unique outdoor learning space, "Camp Pickles," allows children to explore the natural world and build resilience, confidence, and physical skills through forest-school-style experiences.

Our dedicated team, led by a qualified Early Years Teacher (QTS), delivers a child-centered curriculum that prioritizes communication, language, and imaginative play. We focus on strong, sensitive interactions to support every child’s development and foster confident, enthusiastic learners.

In our most recent Ofsted inspection (June 2021), we were delighted to be rated Outstanding in all areas. Inspectors praised our inspiring relationships with children, strong partnerships with families, and our commitment to delivering exceptional early years education.

At Little Pickles, we embrace diversity and community, creating an inclusive environment where all children feel a strong sense of belonging. Regular intergenerational activities and cultural celebrations help broaden children’s understanding of the world around them.

We are passionate about supporting every child to thrive—and equally committed to supporting our staff to grow in a caring, collaborative team.
