At St Augustine Academy, we are committed to developing curious minds and fostering a love for learning. We are seeking a motivated and experienced Second in Charge of Modern Foreign Languages (MFL) to support the leadership of our dedicated MFL team. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate language specialist who is eager to contribute to the strategic development of the department, champion high-quality teaching and learning, and support the Head of MFL in delivering an ambitious and inclusive vision for language education across the academy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Head of MFL in providing strategic direction and leadership for the department, contributing to continuous improvement in teaching and learning.
  • Teach both French and Spanish up to and including GCSE level, delivering engaging and high-quality lessons.
  • Assist in curriculum planning and the development of schemes of work that promote progression and meet the needs of all learners.
  • Use a range of effective teaching strategies to enhance language acquisition and develop students’ cultural understanding.
  • Monitor, assess, and track student progress, using data to inform planning and intervention strategies.
  • Promote a positive, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment that supports student engagement and achievement.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across the academy to contribute to whole-school initiatives and help raise the profile of languages.
