Are you an experienced administrator looking for a new challenge? The Golden Thread Alliance is seeking an enthusiastic Clerk to support the Local Governing Bodies of our 9 academies which are based across Dartford and Gravesham.  

  • 25 hours p/w, term time only (38 weeks p/y)
  • KR7 - £25,378 FTE (pro rata to £14,499.14 per annum for 25 hpw, 38 weeks p/y)

As the Trust continues to grow with schools wanting to join us, there may be opportunity to increase the hours worked with additional responsibilities.  

Effective local governance is vital for effective academies and the postholder will play a key role in clerking and supporting the work of our academies. Knowledge and experience of school governance is an advantage.

Working closely with the Chairs of the Local Governing Bodies, the main responsibility of the role is to prepare agendas, attend meetings in person and take and prepare minutes. You will organise the meetings and undertake all of the administration for the Local Governing Bodies and through your knowledge of governance good practice, you will advise and guide the Chair in their role.

Induction training and ongoing advice and full support will be provided by the Trust’s Governance Professional who you will liaise effectively with ensuring consistency of approach throughout the Trust.

The governing body meetings are held both during the day and evening, so this is a highly attractive opportunity which offers flexibility regarding working patterns. Time off during the day is in place on the day of evening meetings to support flexible working and wellbeing so offers the successful candidate a highly attractive opportunity.

The ideal candidate:

  • Experience of working within an administrative role
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with GCSE English and Maths grades A-C, or equivalent
  • Confident using a range of IT packages
  • Committed to safeguarding and promoting welfare of children and young people; willing to undergo Enhanced DBS Disclosure
