We are seeking a compassionate and supportive Family Liaison Officer who has a sound understanding of safeguarding to work in this demanding but rewarding role. A key part of the role will be to focus on preventative and early intervention activities to assist in tackling underachievement by working with families, parents, carers and children in school and help them to overcome barriers to learning.

The successful candidate will:

  • Be comfortable working either independently using their own initiative or as part of a team.
  • Have good communication skills, with a positive and enthusiastic approach and have the confidence to develop positive relationships to support and challenge hard to reach families
  • Be confident and resilient and have the ability to deal with difficult/sensitive situations and resolve conflict
  • Have an understanding of ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’ and associated safeguarding procedures in schools
  • Have knowledge of external agencies that can support families with a range of needs
  • Be able to relate to parents when advising and supporting their child
  • Possess excellent organisation, administration, communication and IT skills with the ability to prioritise and manage their workload effectively to secure successful outcomes
  • Report to the Senior Leadership Team and work alongside the office team
