SPEECH & LANGUAGE THERAPIST

Ashford, Kent

Salary: Negotiable dependent on experience.

32.5 hours per week; 39 weeks per year.

The Caldecott School is a non-maintained special school catering for young people with a variety of needs including ASD, social, emotional, and mental health difficulties, and a range of communication needs, from reception to year 11.

Governors, senior leaders, and all staff teams work tirelessly to provide a safe, stimulating, and nurturing learning environment which allows the pupils to achieve their full potential. In helping children build a future, we are committed to developing support networks and strategies that young people will require, in today’s society.

We are seeking a highly motivated and pro-active member of staff to join our team. The successful applicant will be able to support children and young people to develop and achieve within our Kent Education provision.

It is essential you have:
• A recognised Speech and Language Therapy Degree qualification or equivalent;
• Health Professions Council Licence to Practice and be a Registered Member of Royal College of Speech and Language Therapy;
• Minimum of 2 years’ relevant experience of working with children/young people and Experience of working collaboratively and co-operatively as part of a multi-disciplinary team
• You will need well established knowledge of assessment tools relevant to the area of practice.
• Ability to formulate comprehensive intervention plans and evaluate outcomes.
• Knowledge of a range of therapeutic, evidence based, interventions suitable for use with children with ABI, in an educational setting.
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

Information about the school

Caldecott School is a non-maintained special school catering for up to 64 young people across Key Stages 1-4. We are a therapeutic school specialising in supporting the educational and emotional needs of students who have experienced trauma, and/or have a diagnosis of Autism and/or other neurodevelopmental and psychological problems aged 5 – 16.

Our team of teachers and Therapists work closely together to deliver a therapy informed curriculum within a safe, stimulating, personalised and nurturing learning environment. We strongly believe that children and young people can learn and move forward in their educational journey when their emotional, social, and cognitive needs are appropriately supported.

Caldecott School is set in a 24 acre site near Ashford, Kent and offers an exciting curriculum which is individualised to meet the needs of our students and includes Forest School, outdoor learning and a number of vocational courses - catering, construction, land based studies and hairdressing. Our holistic approach is underpinned by our Relational Model and has a therapeutic approach at its core designed to build trusting supportive relationships and address barriers to learning so that all of our students can achieve their full potential.

Our school is part of the Caldecott Foundation which is a well established charity that also provides residential care and fostering services. We have an exceptional track record delivering the highest quality of care and education and Ofsted agree having rated 8 out of our 10 services as ‘Outstanding’ as of May 2022.
