Following the promotion of the previous post holder to head teacher, the Executive Headteacher and Governors of Saltwood Primary School are looking to appoint a new Deputy Head Teacher for January 2024.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced school leader, looking to take the next steps in their career.

Saltwood is a one form entry, Voluntary Aided, Church of England Primary school situated near the coastal town of Hythe in a supportive and vibrant village community. The school is Federated with Bodsham Church of England Primary school and this position will offer the successful applicant valuable experience of systems leadership in a Federation.

Our new Deputy Head Teacher will be:

  • Committed to the well-being and development of children and families.

  • Experienced in school leadership.
  • Keen to learn and develop themselves as well as others.
  • Prepared to act as school leader while the Executive Headteacher is working at Bodsham CEP.
  • Excited by opportunities to develop the curriculum across our Federation over time.
  • Able to demonstrate highly effective communication skills, recognising the need to provide support for staff, as well as children and parents.
  • Happy to support and model our Federation’s Christian values, using kindness and love as guiding principles.
  • Organised and efficient with a pro-active approach to problem solving.
  • In possession of good sense of humour!

This role has exciting possibilities for leadership development and aspects of the Job Description can be fully explored at interview. It is anticipated that the post holder will spend around one day a week teaching across every year group to help develop close relationships with all our children.

Saltwood Church of England Primary School is a successful single form entry school at the heart of a supportive village community. We have 210 pupils on roll in 7 classes with good facilities, including an ICT suite and attractive grounds. Ofsted described the personal development of our children as Outstanding.

Saltwood Play and Learning Centre is a registered charity with a team of up to 15 staff operating from the grounds of Saltwood School and offering childcare for nursery and school age children during term time.
