We are looking for a confident and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join our  committed team, working specifically to support children with Special Educational Needs. Previous experience of working with children with individual and specific needs would be an advantage.

The successful candidate will:

  • Hold a Level 2 in Teaching and Learning in School (or equivalent)
  • Have a strong belief in inclusion, diversity and the right of each child to be successful whatever their needs, abilities and background.
  • Be determined to provide the very best outcomes for the children they work with
  • Use their good sense of humour to maintain positive relationships with pupils, colleagues and parents
  • Have effective communication skills, both oral and written
  • Know how to effectively support children’s development of reading, writing and maths knowledge and skills
  • Work closely with class teachers to promote children’s learning and achievement
  • Supervise children at more unstructured times of the school day, engaging them in games and social skills activities 
  • Demonstrate a willingness to take on board advice in order to develop further.

This post will initially be fixed term for one year, with a view to extending beyond that period.

Saltwood Church of England Primary School is a successful single form entry school at the heart of a supportive village community. Saltwood Play and Learning Centre is a registered charity with a team of up to 15 staff operating from the grounds of Saltwood School and offering childcare for nursery and school age children during term time.
