Advert

We are excited to be able to recruit a motivated and enthusiastic PE and School Sports Specialist to join our friendly and welcoming staff here at Parkside Community Foundation Primary School. Due to rising admissions and improved standards across the school, we have one class in each year group, with limited spaces within the school. High standards of classroom management and professionalism are required as is the ability to be understanding and supportive of our pupils and their needs.

We feel that an additional staff member is needed to help build on the huge potential for sporting success that there is at Parkside. We also understand how important PE, School Sport and Physical Activity is for our pupils, both in terms of physical development and the life lessons that it provides and the right candidate will have the subject knowledge and dedication that it takes to inspire and enthuse our pupils.

This role will primarily involve teaching PE lessons across our primary school as well as coaching before and after school sports clubs. Delivering a range of active play options during playtimes and lunchtimes will also be required.

The post will be paid on the unqualified teacher range of £19340.00 and £30172.00, depending on suitability and experience, under the teacher pay and conditions.

We require a good standard of general education and GCSE qualifications or equivalent in English and Mathematics at Grade C or above. A Level 2 qualification in at least one sport is also essential. Verification of qualifications will be required before employment can commence.

A formal interview will take place with members of the Senior Leadership Team and will last approximately thirty minutes. Candidates will also be expected to provide a thirty minute PE activity to a mixed ability KS2 group.

Please see the attached documents for further information on person specification and job description.

Information about the school

Parkside Community Foundation Primary School is a small, growing, happy school on the outskirts of Canterbury. We have a diverse range of backgrounds and cultures within our school and this greatly enriches and enhances our school community.

Our pupils benefit from small classes and a high level of teaching assistant support in every class. After some testing years, we now have a new leadership team in place and the school is showing greatly improved results. We have been able to make significant improvements to, and investments in, our school site and we have an exciting future ahead.

At Parkside, we value greatly outdoor learning and are working towards improving a range of outdoor learning environments, including our own forest school area. We are also benefitting from the next phase of an upcoming building programme which will ensure our buildings will be of the same high standard as the education we deliver.
