Advert

The Golden Thread Alliance is a successful Trust of nine primary schools and we are seeking to appoint a highly effective, efficient and self-motivated Clerk to support our nine Local Governing Bodies.  Our schools are based across Dartford and Gravesham and the Clerk will be line managed by the Trust Governance Professional and be accountable to the Local Governing Bodies of the schools they support.

The main responsibilities of the role are to provide effective administrative support to the Local Governing Bodies and attend in person and to take minutes of the Local Governing Body meetings.  Some meetings will take place remotely but the majority will be face to face with each Local Governing Body and the successful candidate will be required to attend all planned meetings.

This is a highly attractive opportunity which offers flexibility regarding working patterns and the successful candidate must be flexible in their approach to attending meetings and have the ability to travel.

The hours per week for this role are not fixed due to the nature of the post. The salary assumes a weekly quota of 10 hours per week but this will be worked flexibly across the year with a greater commitment some weeks than others. As the Trust continues to grow there will be an opportunity to increase the hours worked along with additional responsibilities.

The successful candidate will be an excellent communicator with GCSE English and Maths grades A-C or equivalent, excellent IT and written skills and experience of working within an administration role. Ideally the candidate will have a mixed skillset and be looking to work within an educational organisation that will provide significant opportunities to give back to society and improve the life chances for local children.

Previous experience of education, academies and clerking responsibilities is desirable but not essential as initial training will be provided along with ongoing development opportunities.

The Golden Thread Alliance is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the amendments to the Exceptions Order 1975, 2013 and 2020 and therefore is subject to an Enhanced DBS Disclosure. In line with KCSIE guidance, paragraph 220, all candidates who are shortlisted will be subject to an online search. This search is not part of the shortlisting process itself and all shortlisted candidates will have the opportunity to address any issues of concern resulting from the search.

Two references are also required prior to commencement of employment.

Early applications are encouraged and we reserve the right to close the vacancy if a suitable candidate is found. Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
