Canterbury is a beautiful cathedral city in East Kent, South East England. The Cathedral, the oldest in England, is a listed UNESCO World Heritage Site, has ancient ruins and is visible across the city’s skyline. Canterbury harmoniously marries old and new, with charming, winding medieval streets and buildings, as well as fantastic shopping, nightclubs, a range of international cuisines. Many restaurants and shops have with strong links to local farms and suppliers. Canterbury has many primary and secondary schools and is a host to four universities.

Kent University, Christchurch and U.C.A ( the University for the Creative Arts) all pursue excellent links and outreach with local schools. Canterbury has vibrant cultural centres and events such as The Marlowe Theatre, The Gulbenkian and the Canterbury Festival. Margate, with Turner Contemporary and independent galleries and Folkestone with its creative Quarter, The Triennial and many festivals are both half an hour away.

There are excellent transport links with Canterbury East and West train stations in the city providing easy access to London.  The A2 is within close proximity allowing you easy access to travel to other parts of Kent.  You can visit the border of London in just over one hour driving or Dover, 17 miles away, situated on the coast and consists of Europe’s international ferry port. Ashford International station is only 16 miles from the city or a 21 minute train ride to access the Eurostar and the rest of Europe.

Nearby are the popular seaside towns of Whitstable, with its famous annual oyster festival, and Herne Bay which has great activities and seafood restaurants.  You can even venture a bit further to discover the beautiful sandy bays in Broadstairs; Kent is spoilt with a great choice of beaches so you can discover a different one each weekend.  

Blean Woods is the largest forest in Kent and stretches across Canterbury, Herne Bay, Whitstable and Faversham, surrounding a number of attractive villages. There are many footpaths and cycle routes allowing you to explore the area as well as making pit stops along your way at local village shops, pubs or restaurants. 

With its history, beauty and charm, there is a reason it is consistently one of the most-visited cities in the United Kingdom.
