Nexus School is based in Tonbridge in the west of Kent. At the centre of this historic town is Tonbridge Castle; an 11th century building that was further developed in 1259 with restoration during the 18th century and further repair by Tonbridge District Council who bought the castle during the 19th century.

Tonbridge is built upon the banks of the River Medway which was a major trading route for this market town. Tonbridge still boasts a farmer’s market on the 2nd Sunday of every month. The community is very active, with a half marathon occurring for the past 8 years, a Christmas festival, folk club, running club, music groups, multiple sports events, opportunities for learning and coffee mornings! 

You will find all kinds of sports clubs in Tonbridge including Tonbridge Angels Football club in the Ryman Premier League and Tonbridge Juddians Rugby Football Club from the National 2 South. Tonbridge Athletic Club runs from Tonbridge school, and is the previous club of Dame Kelly Holmes. For those that enjoy baseball, the Tonbridge Baseball Club formed in 2000, with their junior team the Bobcats being coached by Margaret Borley MBE. If you enjoy water sports then there is a canoe club, swimming club, and both indoor and outdoor swimming pools. Arguably the most successful is Tonbridge Cricket Club, with a very large secluded ground and a very modern pavilion, Tonbridge CC compete in the Kent cricket league with two teams, the first playing in division 4.

If you’re looking for an exciting time in a thriving town then you can check out the high street; it's a mile long and full of shops including Choice and CEX, aswell as multiple butchers, jewellers and phone shops. You also have a wonderful choice when going out for dinner, as you can find British and Indian food as well as Chinese, Italian and Turkish food. With 2 theatres, 2 cinemas and an outdoor cinema you will always have something to do, however you could always go to the trampoline park or the climbing wall instead! Although it’s a town full of history, you can find Haysden country park within walking distance as well as the Kent Downs, which both create fantastic opportunities to spend time with family and friends.

In terms of transport links, you’re never far from Royal Tunbridge Wells (4 miles), Maidstone (12 miles), and London (29 miles). The main road of Tonbridge is the A21, which joins the M25 10.5 miles away from Tonbridge and you can travel to many places from Tonbridge train station. The train station can take you to London Charing Cross in 45 minutes, London Victoria in just over an hour, Hastings in an hour, and also to Tunbridge Wells or Ramsgate on the Kent coast. With a fantastic mix of countryside and busy town life, easy access to both London and the coast, Tonbridge’s location is as useful today as it has been throughout English history.
