Nexus Foundation Special School

About The School

"The School where Excellence meets Opportunity"

Nexus is an ambitious school for children and young people aged 2-19 with profound, severe and complex needs, many of whom have a diagnosis of autism.

In September this year, we moved into an amazing state of the art multi-million pound, purpose built school, complete with woodland walk and life skills house. The school is situated in South Tonbridge just off the A21. It has a large staff car park and is only a 15 minute walk from Tonbridge Station.

At Nexus we strive to engage staff who are self-motivated, professional and ambitious. In return our investment in our staff is exceptional; we offer high quality training and actively promote career development.

We are a member of KSENT which is a Co-operative Trust made up of 16 member special schools and 8 partner special schools from across Kent.We are also part of the Collaborative Learning Alliance of Special Schools (CLASS) Multi-teaching School Alliance.

We are looking for an exceptional headteacher to join our team; someone who shares our beliefs, our school culture and our ethos; who has a passion for working with children and young people with special needs and has boundless creativity and energy.

In return, we can offer friendly, enthusiastic and delightful pupils and a committed, supportive and motivated staff team dedicated to providing the best education and support.

We have high expectations for our pupils, we ceaselessly strive to ensure that they all achieve their maximum potential; we celebrate difference and encouraging curiosity and creativity. We work hard to ensure that individual needs, interests and abilities are met and that pupils develop resilience and make positive life choices.

The Specialist Teaching and Learning Service for Tonbridge and Malling is a mainstream service that provides professional advice, support and training for schools, settings and parents of children and young people with special educational needs.  The STLS is based at the new Nexus School and has an attached training centre equipped with a large lending library of books and assessments. In the near future conference facilities will be opened on the school site which will be available for use by schools, organisations and community groups for up to 30 people, with state of the art technology and WiFi facilities.

This is a wonderful opportunity to join the school at a very exciting time when we are expanding provision and pupil numbers.
