Stowting CEP School lies within the stunning Kent Downs, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty about 12 miles by car east of Ashford in Kent, South East England. It is close to Canterbury (12 miles drive) and Folkestone (10 miles drive) and has easy access to the M20. From Ashford International it’s only 40 minutes to get into London St Pancras by the high-speed rail and about 3 hours to get to Paris via the Eurostar. 

Stowting village is scattered in the chalk hills of the North Downs, beside the Roman road of Stone Street and traversed by the Pilgrim’s Way to Canterbury. The hamlets of Stowting Common and Lymbridge Green to the north of the village centre, which are also part of the community. There are the remains of a castle mound from a Norman Motte-and-Bailey castle. 
There is a pub in the village, The Tiger Inn, dating to the 1600s. Stowting Cricket Club is located near the school and church. There is a village hall- The Peace Rooms- also a short distance from the school. 
Many fine walks can be enjoyed on footpaths around Stowting, with the North Downs Way running through the village.
The window from the Headteacher’s office has a particularly fine view of an unspoilt vista across fields to the foothills of the North Downs!

This is a fantastic spot to enjoy the idyllic Kentish countryside with many wonderful walks. If you are yearning for a bit of hustle and bustle in Kent after the quiet country life, Ashford or the lovely historic cathedral city of Canterbury are easily accessible.  

Ashford town boasts excellent leisure facilities, with the Ashford Designer Outlet, revamped County Square shopping centre, Stour Centre Leisure centre, international standard Julie Rose Athletics Stadium, Eureka Leisure Park and Cineworld complex, and a new Waitrose.

Canterbury is a great shopping destination with its quirky high street shops as well as several well-known chains, catering for a range of people’s needs. Whitefriars Canterbury Shopping Centre opened in 2005 and includes a number of fashion stores. The city also provides a range of cafes, fine dining restaurants, and eateries serving food from across the globe. 

Stowting is not far from the spectacular Kent coast and Folkestone’s beaches are within easy reach during the summer. It really is a place with convenient access to all the best things that Kent has to offer.
