Elmley Dray School
Sheerness
School Description
The opportunity to be truly accepted, understood and supported.
We are incredibly proud of the nurturing and supportive environment we have created for the children and young people we serve. Elmley Dray School specialises in supporting learners aged 9 to 19 with a diagnosis of autism or autistic traits, alongside challenges with mental health regulation, particularly anxiety. We also support learners with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) and other co-occurring difficulties, allowing us to provide highly tailored, individualised support.
Our school is designed to feel like a home from home. With no more than 40 learners on roll, we provide small, carefully structured learning groups of up to eight students per class. For certain activities, such as PE and Natural World, groups come together to foster collaboration and social development.
We prioritise sensory and emotional wellbeing, offering a dedicated sensory room, therapy garden, outdoor learning spaces, and specialist support for learners. All our teachers are qualified specialists in autism or have lived experience within the autistic community. Many hold mental health qualifications and bring extensive SEND expertise, ensuring the highest quality of care and education.
At Elmley Dray, every learner is placed at the heart of what we do. Our dedicated and passionate staff work tirelessly to ensure each student has the opportunity to thrive, grow, and achieve their full potential.
