School Description

Cross Keys Learning Independent Special School was founded in 2018, following the successful placements of students with SEN needs and EHCP’s from within our KMS tuition service. Starting with ten students during its first academic year, the school increased its roll to fifteen in March 2020, and again increased the number of students to twenty seven in September 2021. In 2022 we have expanded the school to operate across two separate sites with an increased the roll of fifty five students.

We are an established and well respected provision offering education to KS3 and KS4 students (11-17 years). Our provision is designed to offer learning within small groups (5-8 per group) and we offer a broad and balanced alternative curriculum with a choice of pathways for KS4 students. Although we can support students with a wide range of needs, our curriculum and provision are designed to support learners: o with ASD/ Social and Communication difficulties o who have been unable to manage a mainstream environment due to high levels of anxiety or school refusal o who require an alternative curriculum/ pathway as their cognitive ability or school experiences have resulted in them being significantly behind ARE (age related expectations). o who may have low self-esteem and confidence

Our mission is to work together continuing to make our school a safe and secure environment where we are aware of our own, and each other’s well-being, and have a pride in our community and our learning, so we can all reach our potential.
