Five Acre Wood Special School, Maidstone, was selected by the National College for Teaching and Leadership (NCTL) to become a teaching school in May 2018. School leaders developed the LEAF teaching school, “Leading Education and Achievement For all”. Peggy Murphy, the Principal, has been identified as a National Leader of Education and has worked closely with mainstream school leaders to develop provision for SEN pupils locally. We have a number of partnership schools within the Maidstone area who are joining us on our teaching school journey by providing salaried, school placements for ITT candidates. We work with Canterbury Christ Church University, our accrediting institution, who provide a comprehensive training programme.
