Come and Make a Difference at Wittersham Church of England Primary School!
At Wittersham, we all want to make a difference – to offer children the very best opportunities to learn and succeed, and to grow into happy, confident, and sociable young people.
We are looking to appoint one part-time teacher (three days per week) from September 2025.
If you are passionate about children’s learning, ambitious about developing outstanding practice, and a team player with a sense of fun, then Wittersham is the school for you.
About Us
We are incredibly proud of our wonderful rural school and all the pupils who embark on their journeys as part of the Wittersham family. Our Christian vision guides our decisions and actions as a proud Church of England School. This vision inspires the entire staff team and school community to ensure that every child feels valued, empowered, and nurtured.
We aim to develop strong moral purpose in our pupils, grounded in our school values of courage, compassion, and cooperation. Children are treated as individuals and encouraged to cultivate enquiring minds, a thirst for challenge, and a ‘can-do’ attitude.
Our staff and governors are committed to achieving high standards and excellent progress, with every child at the heart of all we do. Expectations for both learning and behaviour are high, and our extensive extracurricular and enrichment programmes reflect our whole-child approach.
We are looking for teachers who:
Bring enthusiasm, commitment, and high expectations of all pupils – and of themselves
Demonstrate excellent teamwork and organisational skills
Can lead, motivate, and inspire others
Have a positive outlook and the adaptability needed in a small, nurturing school
Will support our Christian, caring ethos and our commitment to holistic development in partnership with families and the wider community
We can offer:
Happy, articulate, and engaged children who are proud of their school and eager to learn
Good opportunities for professional development
A friendly, creative, and committed team with a warm, positive atmosphere
A working environment where well-being and mental health are prioritised in all decision-making
Strong support from our Governing Body and a highly engaged parent community
A thriving school in the heart of a supportive village
A beautiful rural setting with a large sports field, swimming pool, reflection garden, and nature area
SIAMS Inspection – November 2024
Wittersham was judged ‘Outstanding’ in our 2017 Church inspection (SIAMS), and we were delighted to welcome SIAMS back in November 2024, where our strong Christian ethos and values were once again celebrated.
The report recognised the following key strengths:
The school’s vision is a genuine reality that enables the school community to flourish. They journey together, inspired by the Bible and the story of the road to Emmaus.
The school is a place where the deeply embedded Christian vision has a transformational impact. Governors, leaders, staff, pupils and parents value and live ‘The Wittersham Way’.
The school fosters loving relationships, where pupils and adults are welcomed and treated with dignity and respect. This is particularly evident in the nurture of those with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
Strong partnerships with the local church and clergy shape and enhance collective worship. Staff and pupils appreciate the regular services in church that spiritually nurture the whole school community.
Ofsted (2020)
Our most recent Ofsted inspection judged the school to be ‘Good’. The inspector noted:
“This is a happy and welcoming school. Christian values and a strong sense of community lie at the heart of this village school. Staff have caring relationships with pupils and know their families well. Pupils respond positively to leaders’ high expectations. Pupils want to do well, and they learn to persevere and not give up. They thrive within this trusting and harmonious environment.”
Location and Community
Our school is located mid-way between Tenterden and Rye, in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, close to the church. We serve a range of rural communities, and many families choose to travel to secure a place at our school.
Our beautiful rural location is a core element of the Wittersham curriculum, enriching children’s holistic development and daily experiences. We work in close partnership with parents and carers, ensuring that every child is nurtured, empowered and successful.
Safeguarding Statement
Wittersham Primary School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare and safety of children and young people. We expect all staff to share this commitment. This post is subject to an enhanced DBS check
