Priory Infant School
Information about Priory Infant School
Priory Infants is a 2 form entry school in the heart of Ramsgate. It was built 21 years ago and has 6 spacious classrooms and an extension to include a community room, FLO office and 2 rooms used for group work for children with SALT and SEN needs. The school has well designed and resourced outdoor play areas and a dedicated wildlife area with pond and vegetable plot.
In recent years the staff profile has changed considerably, with long-serving, experienced teachers retiring and new teachers joining the team. This means the school is now entering an exciting time when subject leadership roles will be developed and the new teaching team will work together to build an inspirational Priory curriculum for the future.
Priory works very well with parents and carers and this is central to our school ethos. We aim to do all we can to give children and their families the best start to their school lives – to build confidence, self-esteem and a can-do attitude.
Our core purpose is to instil in children a lifelong love of learning to widen their aspirations, enabling them to succeed and improve their life chances through education.
The school serves a mixed catchment area. There are a high number of single parent families and many families have experienced generational unemployment. There are growing numbers of children from professional families and several children with EAL. About 19% of our children receive SEN support in some form during their time with us and a quarter of children are “disadvantaged” (eligible for Pupil Premium funding).
The school was judged to be good in all areas at our last Ofsted in February 2014 and we are now working towards developing consistently outstanding practice ready for our next inspection (due 2017-2018).
