Chilham St Mary's CEP School
Canterbury
School Description
Chilham St. Mary's is a friendly school with a real family atmosphere located in the heart of our historic village. Each child is valued as unique and filled with potential which we seek to nurture and encourage.
We are a small school with 4 classes of wonderful, hardworking and well behaved children led by a dedicated team of education professionals. We are housed in five beautiful buildings on one site, two of which are Victorian and one dates back to the Tudor era.
We have strong and supportive links with the local community and the church, and we pride ourselves on our strong Christian values. The children enjoy outdoor learning at the stately home of Chilham Castle where we have an annual tradition of Easter egg rolling and at Christmas, we sing Carols to the elderly residents of the village and meet Father Christmas. The school plays a role in the village Remembrance Service in November and the lighting of the Christmas Tree in the Village Square each December.
We embrace small community rural living with visits to our local Fire Station and regular visits to the mobile library. We have weekly Enrichment sessions enabling our children to access the curriculum in new and exciting ways. Our upper Key Stage 2 children take part in a hugely enjoyable residential trip each year and also take part on the annual Cathedral Days organised by the Department of Education at the Diocese of Canterbury.
Chilham St Mary’s has a vibrant P.T.A. that organise events and activities throughout the year. The school is also an associate member of the CARE collaboration family of schools.
