Advert

Following the retirement of a long serving member of staff we have a vacancy for a senior administrative post within our school.

The post is for 37 hrs / week starting at 7.30am (or as close to this time as possible) and will include the responsibility of delivering finance functions for the school. This will be in partnership with the KCC finance team who at present we have a service level agreement with to perform the monthly monitoring processes.

In addition to this, the post holder will have responsibility to oversee either:

  • Administrative functions for personnel management (ie DBS checks, appointment and absence forms etc)

Or

  • Administrative functions for site management (ie site risk assessments) in partnership with the site manager.

Ideally the successful candidate will have experience of KCC finance systems and FMS. However, this should not put off applicants who would be happy to undertake the relevant training – it is more important that we find the right person for our school.

We wish to continue the high standards set by the previous post holder and will be appointing someone to this post who is organised, has a good level of ICT competence, is flexible and has good interpersonal skills (the post supports the smooth day to day running of the school). As the school serves a diverse community including an army barracks the administrative team need to be inclusive in attitude as they are the first point of contact for all who visit the school.

All staff at Cheriton soon become part of our wider school “family” and so an empathy with young children and their families is also essential for this post.

For details of the requirements of the post, and the person we are looking for, please see the attached Job Description and Person Specification.

Cheriton Primary School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. The successful candidate will be subject to pre-employment checks including, safeguarding, an enhanced DBS check, references and the right to work in the UK.

Information about the school

Cheriton Primary School, a two form entry school, is situated on the outskirts of Folkestone. The school serves a diverse community including an army barracks which is home to the 2nd Battalion Royal Gurkha Rifles alongside children who come to our school from across the Folkestone district.

As a member of the co operative movement (The Vicus Trust) we hold the values of self help, self responsibility, democracy, equality & solidarity at the centre of all we do in school.

The staff at the school work hard to ensure that the children make great progress but also that the children always have something on the horizon to look forward to, they are committed to developing a passion for learning in every child who attends the school.

The school was inspected in October 2019 and judged to be a continuing good school with many outstanding aspects with the inspectors celebrating the diverse nature of the school, strong parent and community links and a wide and stimulating curriculum. The inspector commented that "this is a school where children do really come first."

On a weekly basis it is common to have a large number of parent volunteers working in the school, adult learning classes on site, international tea afternoons, a Brownie pack using the school facilities as well as sports, arts and cultural activities for the children in school.

We have a large Forest School area on our site where children from Year R to Year 6 develop confidence in laying fires, building shelters, making bug houses and become aware of conservation issues as part of that core offer.

The school has been accredited with the Excellence in Literacy Award, the Quality in Extended Schools and The Parent Partnership Award.

Additionally, the school funds Benenden Health Care cover for all staff members.
