Advert

The University of Kent Academies Trust are seeking to recruit experienced, hardworking individuals for the role of Cover Supervisor.  The role of Cover Supervisor is cross Trust and you will have the opportunity to work in both our Brompton Academy and Chatham Grammar sites.

You will be part of a team responsible for supervising whole classes of students to cover short term absences of teachers (planned or emergency cover). This will involve facilitating students learning through supporting them with set activities (provided by teachers), responding to questions from students and managing their behaviour according to Trust Policy.

To be successful in this role you will need to be well organised, confident and work well as part of a team.  Previous experience in a similar role or classroom experience will be useful but not essential.  However, flexibility, resilience, good numeracy and literacy skills and excellent communications skills will be key.

This is a valued and respected role in of itself, but this role may also be of interest to candidates who are considering training to teach in the future.  A significant number of our Cover Supervisors have gone on to train to teach with the Trust and we would be happy to support you on this journey if that is your aim.

Information about the school

At Brompton Academy, we are dedicated to Transforming Lives Through Learning. Guided by our REACH values—Resilience, Equality, Aspiration, Community, and Happiness—we provide a caring, supportive, and aspirational learning environment.

Rated Good by Ofsted, Brompton Academy offers excellent facilities, modern buildings, and Apple technology for all, enabling innovative teaching and continuous improvement. We also provide a thriving adult learning programme for over 400 learners.

The University of Kent Academies Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Applicants will be required to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).

In addition, the Trust will carry out an online search, once, as part of our due diligence on shortlisted candidates. This is intended to help us identify any incidents or issues that have happened and are publicly available online. The selection panel will then explore such items with the candidate during interview. The Trust’s HR Team or another member of staff trained in safer recruitment will use Google.com to conduct each search and no adverse judgement will be formed for applicants with limited or no online footprint.
