OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST

Therapy Band 5 – 7 DOE

Permanent position

37.5 hours per week, All year round.

Bradstow is a creative and unique residential school for children between the ages of 5 & 19. It is situated in 13 acres of parkland just a few hundred metres from the sandy beaches of Broadstairs. We seek to meet the needs of children and young people with autism and severe learning difficulties with associated behaviours that may be challenging. We have achieved national recognition for our developments in Communication and Behaviour Management.

We are seeking an individual to undertake the role of Occupational Therapist. You will work collaboratively with the Education and Care support staff to enhance the integrated and holistic support planning and learning for the young people at the school. There will be a special focus on sensory integration within this post.

Duties of this role include (but are not limited to): Conducting assessments, developing individual programs, liaising with parents and carers, liaising with external agencies and ensuring the individual needs of our young people are met.

For all posts we look for candidates who are mature, warm, creative and open to learning with a patient and caring attitude to deal sensitively with vulnerable children.

You will be provided with an extended and ongoing package of induction and training as we believe that staff training and professional development, together with the other staff support systems in place, are essential in our specialised field and are at the core of the success of the Children’s Home and School.

Information about the school

Bradstow is a residential special school registered as a children's home in Broadstairs, Kent. It is maintained by the London Borough of Wandsworth for children and young people with severe intellectual disabilities who are on the autistic spectrum continuum. Many of our children and young people have associated communication difficulties and emotional/behavioural challenges associated with their disabilities and medical needs.
