We are seeking to appoint a Lunchtime Assistant for our KS1 or KS2 settings, who will have the ability to work effectively and enthusiastically as part of a team and be able to engage with the children whilst ensuring their safety and wellbeing. You will need excellent communication skills and have the ability to create a positive environment. Good time management and the ability to use your own initiative is essential.

If you enjoy working with children and would like to work in a friendly primary setting then this could be the role for you.

We would expect the successful candidate to have a firm but fair approach whilst being patient and understanding.

  • The main responsibilities of the role are:
  • To support pupils during mealtimes
  • To support outdoor play activities (indoors in bad weather)
  • To prevent accidents, where possible, and provide basic first aid or seek help from a designated first aider, according to the Health and Safety Policy.

The post is from 11.30am to 12.30pm or 12:00 to 1pm daily - term time only.

St Nicholas CE Primary Academy, as part of Aquila, The Diocese of Canterbury Academies Trust, is situated in the heart of New Romney, set in beautiful surroundings, and is well-resourced to meet the needs of its 15 classes and 400+ children, in this over-subscribed and well-maintained school judged Good with Outstanding features by OFSTED (May 2019).

The academy also has a Specialist Resource Provision (SRP). The SRP is a 14-place specialist provision sited within the mainstream academy for children with an Autistic Spectrum Condition (ASC) designation.

New Romney is an ancient Cinque Port situated in rural Kent, with excellent road links to Ashford (20 minutes), Canterbury (45 minutes) and Folkestone (30 minutes), or if you live in East Sussex only 45 minutes from Hastings!
