We are looking to appoint the right person to fill a newly created role of a School Attendance Officer for 15-20 hours per week. The position is fixed term until 31st August 2022 with a view to it becoming a permanent position.  The candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills as they will be working daily with parents, staff and external agencies.

This person will establish and develop a robust system to monitor and raise attendance. They will work closely with families to investigate reasons for absence and offer the necessary support to secure improved attendance. They will promote positive attitudes in pupils and families towards education.

They will also work closely as part of the safeguarding team to ensure that the safeguarding provision is robust and accurate records are kept. This will also involve working with outside agencies.

We are looking for a committed and enthusiastic individual to undertake this role and the successful applicant will:

  • Have the ability to build effective professional relationships with parents, pupils and staff.
  • Show initiative and a willingness to be involved in all aspects of school life and have the ability to draw on a wide range of support services, information, opportunities and guidance.
  • Work closely with Senior Leaders and Family Liaison Officer. 

Applicants will need to have: 

  • Previous experience of working with SIMS would be desirable but not essential. 
  • Fantastic, empathetic skills, ability to relate to social, emotional & physical needs of all children.
  • Ability to work alongside families to form positive relationships with children and adults.
  • High standards of work ethic and self-motivation, capable of dealing with challenging situations.
  • Good literacy and mathematical skills, including record keeping.
  • Excellent interpersonal, listening and organisational skills.
  • High standards of integrity, professional standards & team work.
  • Be committed to continuing professional development.
  • Have commitment to raising standards and achievement for all pupils.
