Are you looking for a new challenge? Are you passionate about supporting children and young people with their development and learning? Are you keen to develop new skills? Come and join our fantastic team at Foreland Fields School!

We are looking to welcome some term time Teaching Assistants to our school. These posts are for 30.75 hours per week and will be temporary until the end of this academic year, the first instance. However, there are frequently opportunities for successful Teaching Assistants to extend their contracts.

Our pupils and students have a wide range of needs, including difficulties with communication, learning, physical and sensory development as well as medical and care needs. All pupils and students have either severe or profound learning difficulties and many also have a diagnosis of autism. Classes are needs led and pupils and students follow personalised learning journeys along different curriculum pathways, depending on their individual needs.

Whilst experience of working in a special school would be an advantage, it is not essential. We provide all staff with a full week of induction training, which includes Moving and Handling, Makaton, Pool Evacuation, Behaviour and Safeguarding Training. We are committed to providing aspirational outcomes for all our students and we will provide regular specialist training for all staff, throughout their careers at Foreland Fields School. Essential training for Teaching Assistants takes place on alternate Thursdays between 2pm and 4.45pm and all staff are required to attend these as well as 5 INSET days per year.

Candidates must be qualified to at least GCSE Grade C or above in both English and maths or equivalent Level 2 Qualification so as to undertake essential record keeping.  A relevant qualification, such as NVQ Supporting Teaching and Learning and having BSL (British Sign Language) would be desirable, but not essential. Candidates are welcome to contact Sarah Thorp (Deputy Headteacher) by telephone (01843 863891) if they would like to learn more about this exciting opportunity.
