Part–Time (0.6 FTE) Specialist Teacher for Social Emotional Mental Health 
Start ASAP or January 2022

We are looking for a part-time (0.6 FTE) Specialist Teacher for Social Emotional Mental Health to join our Tonbridge and Malling STLS team as soon as possible or from January 2022 on a fixed term contact until September 2022, with the possibility of this being made a permanent position. The County STLS service is currently under review by KCC and any changes to its operation are expected to be confirmed by April 2022 for implementation in September 2022.

 

Our Specialist Teaching and Learning Service for the Tonbridge and Malling District operates out of Nexus District Special School in Tonbridge. The Specialist Teaching and Learning Service supports maintained Primary and Secondary Schools and Nursery settings within the District with Children and Young People (CYP) with SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities). The STLS team consists of Specialist Teachers across the SEND dimensions of Early Years, Cognition and Learning, Communication and Interaction, Social, Emotional and Mental Health and Physical and/or Sensory Development. The Specialist Teachers, although based at Nexus, manage a case load of CYP referred to the service via the LIFT (Local Intervention Forum Team) process. They support in schools and settings by doing observations, carrying out assessments, setting up interventions and putting together targets to support the CYP involved. Specialist Teachers are also required to deliver training to schools within their dimension of specialism and work closely and collaboratively with outside agencies and professionals.
