Warning - This Vacancy is now Closed!
The school has a vacancy for an enthusiatic and energertic person to work with our happy, lively and friendly children. As we enter the summer months and move forward from on the Covid recovery road map we will be spending a lot of time outdoors, making use of our forest school and large grounds with all our children. The post is a maternity leave cover until December 21 at the earliest (potentially until April 22). This post would suit someone who is entering the field of childcare / teaching support and would like to gain more experience however we welcome applications from both experienced and less experienced candiates. The post will involve working in the classroom with groups and individual children as well as organising games and out door activites for children . It is important to the school that crucially you enjoy the company of children between the ages of 4 and 11 and can engage well with them.
Cheriton Primary School (420 on roll) is situated on the outskirts of Folkestone. The school serves a diverse community including an army barracks which is home to the 1st Battalion Royal Gurkha Rifles alongside children who come to our school from across the Folkestone district.
As a member of the co operative movement (The Vicus Trust) we hold the values of self help, self responsibility, democracy, equality & solidarity at the centre of all we do in school.
The staff at the school work hard to ensure that the children make great progress but also that the children always have something on the horizon to look forward to, they are committed to developing a passion for learning in every child who attends the school.
The school was inspected in October 2019 and judged to be a continuing good school with many outstanding aspects with the inspectors celebrating the diverse nature of the school, strong parent and community links and a wide and stimulating curriculum.
On a weekly basis (before Covid!) it was common to have a large number of parent volunteers working in the school, adult learning classes on site, international tea afternoons, a Brownie pack and Community Choir using the school facilities as well as sports, arts and cultural activities for the children in school.
The school has been accredited with the Excellence in Literacy Award, the Quality in Extended Schools and The Parent Partnership Award.
