South Borough Primary School is looking to appoint a dedicated and enthusiastic teaching assistant to support teaching and learning in Early Years and/or Key Stage 1.  This role will be a mixture of working with children on a 1:1 basis and supporting small groups with their learning.  The successful candidate will work primarily in the classroom, as part of the Early Years/KS1 team and will be expected to take an active part in developing the children’s learning during child initiated sessions. 

The role will include encouraging the creativity of children through indoor and outdoor play, together with supporting children at lunchtimes.  You will also be expected to encourage good behaviour for learning and attitude to enable all children to achieve their best. 

The successful candidate will:

  • Have GCSE (or equivalent) qualifications in English and Maths alongside relevant experience of working with children. 
  • Be a super role model for children.
  • Be prepared to work with children on a 1:1 basis and with small groups.
  • Be prepared to encourage children to be curious and find out about the world around them.
  • Develop children to be independent learners who are prepared to take risks from an early age.
  • Be positive and always uphold the school’s values and expectations

South Borough Primary School in Maidstone is currently a 2 form entry school with three classes in both Year 2 and 3. It became part of the Swale Academies Trust on 1st February 2015.
