We are looking for a Communications Assistant, starting as soon as possible, to support children in our Registered Provision for Hearing Impaired children. This is initially a one year contract, dependent on numbers attending, but there is a strong possibility that this will continue and become permanent.

Responsibilities would include: - helping to access the curriculum and communicate - support with learning - support with physical development - developing sign language skills

An ideal candidate should have experience of supporting children with social and communication difficulties. We would also be looking for: - experience and/or qualification in British Sign Language up to Level 2 - recent experience of working in schools and supporting children - flexibility and a genuine desire to get the best from children.

We are also willing to consider unqualified staff, with apprpriate experience, who are willing to undertake British Sign Language training.

The position will be for 30 hours per week, working 8.30am to 3pm Monday to Friday. You will be paid on a pro rata basis for these hours and for 39 weeks a year.

Due to the unusual circumstances we are currently in, interviews may take place via video conference, however this is subject to changes in covid guidelines.

Castle Hill is a lively two form entry Community Primary School with a Specialist Resource Provision for Hearing Impaired children. We also have responsibility for running a large and thriving Nursery which shares its premises with the Children Centre on our grounds. The school is situated in an urban area of East Folkestone, on a deceptively large site.
