Maypole Primary School wishes to appoint a highly motivated, enthusiastic and passionate Sports Coach to join our school.

As a Sports Coach you will responsible for assisting the planning and organisation of a P.E programme that children will be captivated by and motivated to continue their sport both at home or in school. You would work collaboratively with teachers/support staff where they will have an opportunity to learn and replicate good practices in their own P.E lessons. The coach will have access to a planning resource for all sessions and may be required to adapt these using prior knowledge and expertise and provide support to other staff also teaching P.E. The candidate should be versatile in their delivery and be able to adapt programmes to tailor different requirements based on class size, age groups and facility. This will include being confident to teach some sessions remotely and/or preparing video content for those children learning at home.

Desirable qualifications, experience and qualities required by the successful applicant:

 

  • Level 2 or above in coaching of at least one sport or a QTS with experience in teaching PE.
  • Knowledge of The National Curriculum and/or experience of working with children
  • Ability to work successfully with pupils with a range of needs
  • Adaptable and confident to support pupils individually or in small groups
  • Enjoys working with children and is able to establish excellent relationships
  • Excellent team member
  • Hardworking and is able to work on their own initiative
  • Very good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Committed to the school, has positive views and is willing to contribute to school events.

The post is for up to 30 hours per week - term time only - working across the week Mondays to Fridays. KCC support application forms only. This position will initially be a temporary contract until the end of the summer term – July 2020.
