Responsibilities and Duties

  • Support the activities of individuals or groups (normally up to 4).
  • Establish and maintain relationships with individual pupils and groups.
  • Contribute to Personal Learning Plans as appropriate.
  • Support pupils during learning activities.
  • Promote pupils' social and emotional development.
  • Contribute to the health and wellbeing of pupils.
  • Provide support for bilingual/multilingual pupils (where appropriate to the focus of the role).
  • Support children with specific needs, for example, cognitive or learning difficulties, behaviour, emotional and social development needs.
  • Support pupils with literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Support pupils to access the curriculum.
  • Observe and report on pupil performance.
  • Contribute to the planning and evaluation of learning activities.
  • Assist in preparing and maintaining the learning environment.
  • Contribute to the management of pupils' behaviour.
  • Contribute to maintaining pupils' records.
  • Support the maintenance of pupils' safety and security.
  • Supervise the group, when required.
  • Provide general administrative support.
  • Undertake marking of pupils' work in line with Parkview Academy's 'Marking Policy'.

Responsibilities

  • Support the development and effectiveness of teamwork within the school environment.
  • Develop and maintain working relationships with other professionals.
  • Liaise with parents/carers/professionals, as appropriate.
  • Review and develop own professional practice.
  • To assist in maintaining links within the local community and to develop an awareness of local resources.
  • To involve parents, carers, relatives and friends in the lives of the young people, where appropriate.
  • To liaise with other professionals.
  • To work to create an environment in which everyone's educational, emotional and personal development needs are met.
  • To facilitate non-discriminatory practices.
  • Support the use of information and communication technology in the classroom.
  • Support for the Alternative Curriculum and Curriculum Enrichment.

An enhanced DBS check will be undertaken as part of our safer recruitment policy.

Qualifications and Skills

Suitable candidates will need to have experience of working with challenging behaviour and hold (or be working towards) a suitable teaching support qualification (Level 2/3). Whilst experience is highly valued we are also keen to interview staff with limited experience but with good aptitude. We welcome applications from candidates who have experience in residential care for children and young people. To ensure the correct staff balance and dynamics, we are keen to recruit male & female team members.

Due to the nature of this position, Parkview Care can only consider applicants aged 21 years and above, this is an occupational requirement and therefore is exempt from schedule 9 of the Equality Act 2010
