We are seeking to appoint a Teaching Assistant to support children with speech and language disorders in a Year 5/6 class in The Acorn Centre. 

The Acorn Centre is a specialist resourced provision for children with speech and language disorders which is part of both Minterne Junior School and The Oaks Infant School. The Acorn Centre has three classes with 12-15 pupils each of whom are supported by a strong team of highly skilled adults.

The post is permanent for 25 hours a week starting 1st September 2020.

You will need to be educated to GCSE A*- C level or above in both Maths and English and have a basic knowledge of IT. You will also need to be flexible, supportive and a positive team player and possess excellent communication skills.

Information about the school

Minterne is a large 3 form entry Junior School with an attached speech and language unit called The Acorn Centre. The school serves a pleasant residential area of the town. Facilities are excellent and include an ICT suite with 35 PCs. The school has a large, well-stocked library. We have also built a second hall.

The supportive staff work closely in Year Group Teams. Minterne was graded as Good by Ofsted in October 2021. The school is well known for Creativity, Sport and Music.

Minterne is part of Our Community Multi Academy Trust. The infant and junior schools share a specialist unit resource for children with speech and language difficulties.
