Appointment of Teacher of Physical Education & Key Stage 3 Science

Start date: 1 September 2020

Information for Applicants

Borden Grammar School is committed to providing students in Swale with every advantage that being a selective school can offer.

The PE department possesses a breadth of experience and staff show considerable commitment to a range of extra-curricular opportunities. Borden students compete at district and county level in a wide range of sports: football, rugby, cricket, hockey, handball, athletics etc. The department has successfully run an inclusive as well as a competitive extra-curricular programme, therefore the successful candidate would be expected to share this ethos and contribute to enriching students’ experiences beyond the classroom.

The Science Department is successful in many ways. Science is taught throughout KS3 with support from the Head of Science together with the Heads of Chemistry and Biology.  At GCSE the majority of students are entered for triple science.  Approximately two-thirds of students in KS4 follow the Separate Science route and the remainder pursue the combined award.  Outcomes in all Science disciplines at KS4 are particularly strong with regards to attainment and progress measures.  The successful applicant will receive training and support from a very collegiate and hard-working group of professionals.

The post is equally suited to somebody seeking to join the profession and secure their NQT status or a colleague looking for career development by securing a new post.  Most importantly you will want to make a significant contribution to the quality of education boys receive at this school.
