Start Date: July / August 2020

Closing Date: Friday 31st January 2020

Interview Date: W/C 10th February 2020

Are you an inspiring Head of Science who has an exceptional track record of success? Can you demonstrate that you have led a team to achieve excellence? Are you now hungry to prove that you have what it takes to lead a team of passionate Scientists, as well as take on some additional whole school responsibility in our Outstanding school?

We are seeking a passionate, creative and dynamic Director of Science.  Our Science team is innovative, collaborative and phenomenally successful.   The current  postholder is retiring after lengthy service to the school.  Do you have what it takes to lead, nurture and drive this young department to even more stunning success in the future?

Students at Meopham School are focused, engaged and are ambitious to succeed.

We are incredibly fortunate to be housed in a brand new £14 million building.  This offers an inspiring state-of-the-art learning environment, but with the benefit of traditional classroom spaces. Our science laboratories are the envy of all who visit!

Our students are wonderful ambassadors for us, both in school and beyond.  Our staff work in partnership with students, parents and each other to create a supportive, energising and inspiring climate for success.  Our reputation in the community is second-to-none.

Meopham School is unique in that it has all the benefits of being a small school with a distinct identity, yet has the advantages of working as part of a larger Trust.  Despite its size, Meopham School is an exceptionally successful school, with even greater ambitions for the future.  We are involved in extensive outreach work across schools in Kent, both within the Trust and beyond.  This means that we can offer you an invigorating professional environment in which to grow.  The opportunities are genuinely endless.

Meopham School is currently the highest performing non-selective school in Kent, a position it has held for the past four years.

Visits to the school are warmly welcomed.

Information about the school

We are an 11-18 school located in the beautiful village of Meopham, taking students from the surrounding villages and also from Gravesend, which is close by via public transport. We are very proud to be able to offer these young people a dynamic and forward-thinking school that embraces modernity, whilst also providing the tranquility and natural beauty of a traditional village setting. We believe that all young people - regardless of background - should be able to benefit from an education in such a setting.

As part of Swale Academies Trust, we benefit from a collaborative network of nine secondary schools in Kent and East Sussex, and as such, there are a range of professional development and further career progression opportunities available, including the full range of National Professional Qualifications.

We’re a supportive, friendly, approachable team who all work together because we all believe in the same thing: that our job, as educators, is to make the world - and its future - a better place. If you believe in the same thing too, then we warmly welcome you to come and take a look at what our school has to offer.
