Finberry Primary School opened in September 2015 in temporary accommodation in Jemmett Road, Ashford and moved into the first phase of its state of the art building in the growing Finberry Village near Kingsnorth, Ashford in September 2017. Built to serve the needs of a growing community, the school is expected to take on a reception class every September until it reaches its full capacity of 210 pupils. If the local community provides significant demand as expected, the school will be expanded in a second phase of construction to provide a building that can support a two form entry school of 420 pupils. The school also hosts a small specialist resource base provision for pupils who have greater difficulty learning as a result of Behavioural, Emotional and Social Needs. The base will include provision for up to 14 pupils. A Nursery is also available to local children, run by the school.
The school was inspected by Ofsted in September 2018 and was judged to be Good.
Finberry Primary School is part of The Stour Academy Trust, a highly successful primary only multi-academy trust. Working in a collaborative model, Finberry is part of the Canterbury Hub of the Trust, joining the sponsor school, Sturry CE Primary school, and two further Canterbury schools, Hersden Village Primary School and Adisham CE Primary School. All Academies in the Trust share the same core values and ethos; raise standards and address under performance whilst making sure that the children are at the heart of every decision. Through the effective use of Hubs, the Trust’s aim and ambition is to create a network of outstanding schools that thrive through collaboration and interaction. As the Trust grows, it is expected that Finberry will become part of the Trust’s planned Ashford Hub.
