General School Secretary (term time only) plus 10 days

Part-time

KR4 £17,498 - £18,611 (pro rata) 27 hours per week, term time only plus 10 days (40 weeks per year). Working Monday,Tuesday and Wednesday 8am-12pm, Thursday and Friday 8am-4pm.

Are you an enthusiastic, flexible and hard working person with a good sense of humour?

We are looking for new members of our office team and seeking to appoint a general secretary to deal with enquiries, greeting and welcoming children, parents and visitors to our friendly and successful school.

Excellent organisational skills are required to cope with the demands of dealing with a variety of tasks and the ability to adapt to any situation. Good literacy, numeracy and computer skills (word and excel) are essential. A knowledge of SIMS and experience of working in a school would be desirable.

The day to day role of General School Secretary will include the following:

  • Answering office phone and email
  • Maintaining the school diary
  • Maintaining the school website
  • Recording pupil absence and lateness
  • Composing and typing letters and other forms of communication including the weekly newsletter and letters/forms sent out at regular intervals
  • Collating and filing received information and making sure that this is always kept up to date and accessible
  • Ensuring visitors to the school are welcomed and have the relevant safeguarding/ health and safety information provided
  • Working alongside the PSA to log and maintain any pupil medicines
  • Organising supply teacher agency cover where necessary
  • Arrange parent consultation appointments
  • Undertake the role of Educational Visits Coordinator, organising off-site trips and in-school events using EVOLVE
  • Maintaining pupil files and records and parental consent
  • Supporting the HR and Clerical Administrator with the admissions process
  • Managing the school’s GDPRiS system
