Salary: KR3 £17,365 - £17,411(pro rata to £12,416 - £12,530 term time) depending on experience plus £1,274 SENA.
Based at Castle Hill Community Primary School
We are seeking to appoint a Teaching Assistant who has the energy, motivation and a creative approach to develop the most exciting and engaging learning environment at our new satellite provision at Castle Hill Primary School. This is the culmination of a long-term plan for staff at The Beacon and Castle Hill to provide an inclusive learning experience for children in a caring, nurturing environment, within both the satellite and the school as a whole.
The provision will be for 10 Beacon Pupils from years 4, 5 and 6 who will be on our roll but will be educated on the mainstream site by the Beacon staff. This will include an additional 2 places for pupils from Castle Hill. One of the admission criteria will be that the pupils may have the ability to cope and transition back into a mainstream environment on a full time basis. The pupils will have a dedicated satellite space, and where appropriate will participate in the life and the educational provision of the Beacon and Castle Hill.

The successful applicant will have a good standard of education with a minimum requirement of English and Mathematics at GCSE (C) or equivalent.

We are an all-age school (3-19 years) offering 380 pupils with complex needs, profound and severe learning difficulties and physical and sensory impairments a wide range of educational experiences based in Folkestone. We currently work across two sites: the main site is Park Farm Road, Folkestone and a small 10 place satellite provision hosted by Castle Hill Primary School also in Folkestone.
The school is on the cusp of kick starting phase one of our new satellite provision which will be based in Walmer, Deal providing education experiences for an additional 240 pupils.
The Beacon has a strong cooperative ethos and culture, building on personalised learning to ensure all students thrive within school and beyond. Learning at The Beacon offers a child-centred ‘needs led’ curriculum, which incorporates elements of the EY Foundation Stage, National Curriculum and external accreditation as appropriate, including Life Skills and Social Skills.
We will also continue to provide training and support for mainstream schools through the Specialist Teaching and Learning Service team managed by the school. This team offers support, training, outreach advice and guidance to our mainstream colleagues. In addition, the Beacon has both conference and meeting facilities and regularly hosts nationally renowned speakers on its courses.
The Beacon also hosts a MultiAgency Support Hub. This is one of four centres across the County that brings NHS colleagues, paediatricians, speech and occupational therapists, and nursing services, alongside children’s social services and portage colleagues into one cohesive centre.
